December 10, 2019

What an exciting start to our week!

We are all set to go on our field trip to the science center tomorrow. Thank you to Owen, Lydia and Hailey's moms for volunteering to join us for this exciting learning experience. If any other parents would like to join and have their police security checks done, please let me know at sajcox@cbe.ab.ca

Yesterday we took on the role of food critics and critiqued either the best or the worst thing we have ever tasted. We practiced using our understanding of adjectives and the five senses to brainstorm as many words as possible.

We have been working on developing our understanding of adding 2 digit numbers using regrouping. Yesterday we learned how to use a calculator to check our answers.

In science we have started a new project, we are building toys using a magnet to show our understanding of magnetism and how it can be used to construct a device. We will be collecting recycled materials this week as we begin building our toys.

In social studies we learned about the Ukrainian history of the prairie people. We learned that about traditions on the prairie.

Today we had a special surprise left by our elf BB. He brought us 5 new games for our classroom and we have been earning 10 minutes a day to play our new games until Christmas. It is amazing to see how our group work skills are developing by working together playing a board game and following rules.

Today we got new spelling words, keep an eye out for these in backpacks :)

Tomorrow is our field trip! Please arrive at school on time as our bus departs at 9am. We will return to the school by 2:20pm.

December 4, 2019

Today was a very busy day preparing for the Winter concert! Remember the concert is at 6:30 tonight, please do not bring students prior to 6pm as no one will be in the building to let you in.

This week we have been working on building 2, 2 digit numbers and adding them together. Check it out:

We have also been learning about the climate of Saskatoon and what clothing would be worn on a trip to Saskatoon. In Science we learned about the 4 different kinds of magnets.

In ELA we have been practicing writing our ideas and thoughts.

We had a new visitor, an elf who has came to spend December in our room. We decided to name him BB.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered for our field trip so far! Remember student forms are due back Friday.
