Update on last week and the week ahead

Good morning everyone, I hope that you are staying warm on this very chilly morning!

What an exciting week we had last week, everyone was so well behaved.

Last week we worked on circle stories based on the Lauren Numeroff series, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.

We also focused on how we can represent and add to a variety of numbers using multiple strategies.

We also did an exciting writing prompt based on the song, If I had a Million Dollars.

In science we began using a thermometer to track the weather outside and we finished up our magnetism toys.

Today was not our best day... some of us are having difficulties maintaining our voice levels and controlling our bodies, it is cold outside so it is understandable that we are wiggly so we are working on adding in more movement breaks into our day.

Today we started an author study on Michael Kusuguk an Inuit author. This is leading us into the Inuit social studies unit and writing personal narratives. We also started our skip counting unit to introduce us into adding money at the end of the month for a class store.

What to expect this week:
ELA: New spelling lists after our test tomorrow (last week was commonly misspelled words), Author story (see above), guided reading starts.
Math: Skip counting reviewed.
Social: Beginning Inuit finishing wrap up of prairie stories.
Science: We have started hot/cold temperatures.

Reminders:
New fun lunch online- Healthy hunger website
Math night- Feb. 6 - 6-8pm
Pajama day January 15
