What to expect this week Jan 27-30

Good morning room 4,

I hope that everyone got a chance to enjoy the warm winter weather over the weekend and ready for a busy but short week! :)

ELA- We have decided to take a week to have a break from story writing, we are working on responding to journal prompts/writing about our opinions. We will also be beginning a new spelling list which will be sent home tonight, spelling test will happen today (ING family). In reading we are working on applying decoding skills (how we sound out words) to our spelling of unfamiliar words

Math- We are working on strategies for skip counting using coins as counters. We have been combining this understanding with our knowledge of addition to learn about ways which these skills can be used in the real world. We are currently earning 'Miss.Cox Cash' to spend at our class store next week. Check out how we have decided to earn or lose Miss.Cox Cash!

Science- We are continuing to explore hot and cold temperatures. We will be exploring ways of heating or cooling food and other items. As well as exploring the importance of  heating/cooling in our daily lives.

Social studies- This week we are exploring Inuit clothing and the adaptations that people in Iqaluit use to stay warm... this ties so well with our science unit!

Health- We are exploring strategies for calming our bodies/voices.

Art- This week we will continue perfecting out Ted Harrison art.

Reminder- No school Friday
Mystery Math Night February 6, There is amazing prizes!!! 6 - 8pm
